Please RSVP by July 31\, 2024\, by emailing CSHCS@kentcountymi.gov or calling 616-632-7066. \n\nAbout Kent County Children’s Special Healthcare Services\nChildren’s Special Health Care Services (CSHCS) is a program within the Kent County Health Department and the Michigan Department of Community Health. It is for children and some adults with special health care needs and their families. The program offers medical care and treatment assistance for children with chronic\, severe\, disabling health problems; it also provides service coordination to meet child and family needs. Eligibility is based on the child’s diagnosis\, severity\, and treatment plan—NOT income. Many families with CSHCS coverage have private insurance. CSHCS provides additional help to these families. A sliding fee scale determines the cost of the program. (In other words\, the fee is determined by your income and household size.) This fee is waived if the individual applying is enrolled in Medicaid or MI Child.

The keynote presentations at Mary Free Bed’s 2023 Stroke Conference will provide rehabilitation specialists valuable information on self-awareness deficits\, assessments\, and strategies for the adult neurologic population and neurology assessment and intervention for adult-onset apraxia. Other presentations will include executive function skills following CVA and addressing intimacy and relationships following a stroke to improve quality of life. Bridging the gap between therapy and orthotics regarding AFO selection as well as research updates on capacity versus performance will be included.
