DESCRIPTION:Kent County Children’s Special Healthcare Services (CSHCS) is hosting its 2nd Annual Back to School Bash on Tuesday\, August 8\, 2023. For families with children enrolled in Children’s Special Healthcare Services\, this event is an opportunity to socialize while also learning about resources and programs available in the community. At this free event\, families can also enjoy food\, zoo animals\, carnival games\, prizes\, popcorn\, grabbags\, school supplies\, and more! \nThe Creative Mobility Group will have a wheelchair accessible vehicle on display and will be available to answer any questions about wheelchair accessible vehicle modifications as well as grants and funding resources available to assist with purchasing a wheelchair van. \nThe event will take place at the Kent County Health Department in the Annex parking lot\, directly behind the main building from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. To RSVP\, please email CSHCS@kentcountymi.gov or call 616-632-7066.  \n\nAbout Kent County Children’s Special Healthcare Services\nChildren’s Special Health Care Services (CSHCS) is a program within the Kent County Health Department and the Michigan Department of Community Health. It is for children and some adults with special health care needs and their families. The program offers medical care and treatment assistance for children with chronic\, severe\, disabling health problems; and provides service coordination to meet child and family needs. Eligibility is based on the child’s diagnosis\, severity\, and treatment plan—NOT income. Many families with CSHCS coverage have private insurance. CSHCS provides additional help to these families. There is a cost for the program determined by a sliding fee scale. (In other words\, the fee is determined by your income and household size.) This fee is waived if the individual applying is enrolled in Medicaid or MI Child.

For over 50 years\,  they have been delivering comprehensive rehabilitation services based on cutting-edge treatment techniques\, innovative research and excellent\, personalized medical care. In keeping with their mission\, the RIM Foundation supports research\, education\, and community benefit activies that promote rehabilitation of persons with life altering disabilities and injuries. DESCRIPTION:iKayak is Flint’s first inclusive kayaking program. A Partnership between The Disability Network\, Flint River Watershed Coalition\, and the Genesee County Parks has provided this unique opportunity for adaptive recreation in Genesee County. This program\, under the direction of a Certified Adaptive Paddle Instructor and a Certified Recreational Therapist\, will introduce people with disabilities and their families to the wonderful sport of kayaking on beautiful Mott Lake at Bluegill Boat Launch\, which has an EZ dock for adaptive access. DESCRIPTION:The Senior Alliance will host their annual luncheon on May 11\, 2023. The event celebrates the organization’s work to assist older adults and individuals living with a disability remain independent in their homes. In keeping with their mission\, this year’s theme is\, “There’s No Place Like Home.”  \n\nAbout The Senior Alliance\nThe Senior Alliance funds and administers a network of services for older adults in southern and western Wayne County. The Senior Alliance\, Area Agency on Aging 1-C\, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) agency established in 1980 and designated by the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services as the Area Agency on Aging for the 34 communities of southern and western Wayne County\, Michigan. The Senior Alliance also acts as an agent of the MI Choice Waiver Program\, arranging services for qualified older adults and individuals living with disabilities.  \nThe Senior Alliance’s policies are set by a board of directors. The board is advised in turn by an Advisory Council composed of older adults\, service providers\, and the general public. The agency’s chief executive officer is Jason Maciejewski. \nAll persons age 60 and older who reside in the region are entitled to receive services funded by the Older Americans Act and Older Michiganians Act from The Senior Alliance\, regardless of their financial or social status. For some programs and services\, per the Older Americans Act\, the agency will give preference to older adults who are considered to be in the greatest economic or social need.
