Reduced Effort Steering

Depending on client needs, we can modify both gear and rack-type power steering systems as necessary. We can modify the braking system of most cars, vans or light trucks. There are various degrees of reduction and no question of compatibility because we use the vehicle’s OEM power steering system.

Spinner Knobs

Steering wheel spinner knobs are uniquely designed to assist those driving with a disability and are typically utilized when an individual operates their vehicle using hand controls. There are a variety of spinner knobs that can help ensure a safe and comfortable driving experience. Common spinner knob designs are the V-Grip, Tri-Pin, Palm Grip, and Amputee Ring.

It is important to know that you must consult a Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist to be educated on the use of the product and to attend a training class to determine if a steering wheel spinner knob is the right solution for you. A CMG mobility consultant will be happy to provide you with local rehabilitation centers and driver evaluators.



  • For driver with full use of steering hand and arm.
  • Commonly used with a standard hand control

For positive one-hand control of the steering wheel. The spinner knob rotates in a fixed position stemming from a base attached to the steering wheel. Our most popular steering device, the ball-grip presses firmly against the palm of the operator’s hand giving them added strength and control for easy driving. The base of the steering device is positioned along the inside of the steering wheel and is adjustable according to the individual’s abilities.


Aumputee Ring

  • For driver with a prosthetic hook on steering arm

The amputee ring accommodates most drivers with a prosthetic hook on their steering arm(s). One finger goes on the outside of the ring, the other finger fits on the inside, securing the driver to the steering wheel for smooth handling. Made of durable steel, the amputee ring can be placed on most locations on the steering wheel. The prosthesis should have soft surface pincers.


Palm Grip

  • Offers complete control for a driver with a totally disabled hand and wrist
  • Operates as the hand is held in place by a cuff

This steering device is for drivers with no grip and/or diminished wrist stability. The palm grip is ideal for individuals who lack hand and wrist function or those unable to use the spinner knob or amputee ring. It can be placed at any position on the steering wheel according to the driver’s personal comfort. It comes with a soft insert.


Tri-Pin Grip

  • For hands without tensor control
  • No strapping of the hand is required
  • Grasps at the wrists and resists efforts of the hand to dislodge

This steering device is for drivers who have no grip and/or diminished wrist stability. The tri-pin is firmly supported by a secured base located along the inside of the steering wheel. Each pin is covered with foam to provide the driver with maximum comfort. The foam is easily replaceable if wear does occur overtime. The driver’s hand and wrist are comfortably secured with this lightweight three-pin grip. The pins are fully adjustable, so the driver can easily find his or her comfort setting.

The v-grip steering device is for drivers with minimum grip. With use of the v-grip, the driver’s hand is securely stabilized. The base is secured to the steering wheel and is also adjustable according to individual’s abilities. With a foam-grip single pin and foam-covered aluminum wrap providing backhand support, the driver’s hand stays securely and comfortably in place. The single pin is easily adjustable to find the steering grip that is just right for the driver. The foam cover is easily replaceable for comfort.

For positive one hand control of the steering wheel, this unit is designed with a bracket to hold a LogiTouch Control Unit. The LogiTouch Control simply snaps into the bracket and has secondary functions (wiper, turn signal, horn, etc) within a finger’s reach. The spinner knob rotates in a fixed position via a base which clamps to the steering wheel. The LogiTouch spinner knob can be operated by the driver’s right or left hand depending on his or her preference.
