About ALS of Michigan
ALS of Michigan is an independent nonprofit organization that is wholeheartedly committed to enhancing the lives of individuals and families impacted by amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Notably, the organization operates solely within the state of Michigan and is not affiliated with the National ALS Association. Markedly, their primary objective is to deliver care services and support to those affected by ALS, including patients, their families, and caregivers. Moreover, their services include:
Equipment Loan Program: ALS of Michigan provides a crucial lifeline of medical equipment, such as wheelchairs, communication devices, and home modifications, to people with ALS who cannot afford them. Undoubtedly, this program helps ensure that no one is left without the necessary tools to navigate their daily lives.
Support Services: ALS of Michigan is more than just an organization; it’s a community. They facilitate support groups for people with ALS, their families, and caregivers. Most important, these groups provide a sense of belonging, emotional support, information, and resources to help individuals cope with the challenges of ALS.
Educational Programs: ALS of Michigan is committed to empowering people with ALS and their families through knowledge. As a result, they provide educational programs to help community members learn about the disease, its symptoms, treatment options, and coping strategies.
