Our mobility consultants have been certified by the National Mobility Equipment Dealer Association (NMEDA) to present “Comprehensive Automotive Mobility Solutions for Health Professionals.” The presentation is approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and other professional organizations to provide attendees with one CEU. The presentation covers:
- Wheelchair accessible vehicle options
- Mobility solutions for care givers
- Adaptive driving equipment for elderly drivers

Comprehensive Automotive Mobility Solutions
This introductory level continuing education course contains a range of topics pertaining to personal automotive mobility solutions. It will assist the allied health care practitioner in understanding and advocating for individuals seeking automotive vehicle modification solutions, while also teaching practitioners about the unique process involved in evaluating, selecting and purchasing appropriate automotive options.

Conducting Wheelchair Transportation Assessments
This introductory level course is designed to help healthcare professionals understand an overview of wheelchair and scooter options coupled with automotive mobility solutions for patients and clients with disabilities. By learning about wheelchair transportation assessments, health professionals will be able to suggest options for caregivers or patients who want to drive but need accommodations. Topics covered include learning about NMEDA’s Quality Assurance Program, evaluation conditions of patients and matching them with appropriate automotive mobility, wheelchair, or scooter solution.
Learning Objectives and Outcomes
- Identify appropriate vehicle modifications for wheelchair and scooter access
- Discuss appropriate equipment for occupied wheelchair and scooter tie downs
- Identify appropriate equipment for transporting unoccupied wheelchair and scooters
- Refer to relevant safety guidelines and standards
- Identify available sources to assure the most effective wheeled mobility transportation outcomes
