Children’s Special Health Care Services of Kent County Back to School Bash – 2024

Children’s Special Healthcare Services (CSHCS) of Kent County is hosting its 3rd Annual Back to School Bash on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. For families with children enrolled in CSHCS, this event is a fun-filled opportunity to socialize and learn about resources and programs available in the community. The event is all about providing back-to-school supplies and fun tailored for children with disabilities. With food, games, prizes, animals, and more, it’s an evening of excitement and joy for everyone!
One of the unique features of the event is the participation of community vendors, including The Creative Mobility Group. We will showcase a wheelchair accessible vehicle and be available to answer any questions about wheelchair accessible vehicle modifications, as well as grants and funding resources available to assist with purchasing a wheelchair van.
The event will occur at the Kent County Health Department in the Annex parking lot, directly behind the main building at 700 Fuller Avenue NE, from 5 pm to 7 pm. Please RSVP by July 31, 2024, by emailing CSHCS@kentcountymi.gov or calling 616-632-7066.
About Kent County Children’s Special Healthcare Services
Children’s Special Health Care Services (CSHCS) is a program within the Kent County Health Department and the Michigan Department of Community Health. It is for children and some adults with special health care needs and their families. The program offers medical care and treatment assistance for children with chronic, severe, disabling health problems; it also provides service coordination to meet child and family needs. Eligibility is based on the child’s diagnosis, severity, and treatment plan—NOT income. Many families with CSHCS coverage have private insurance. CSHCS provides additional help to these families. A sliding fee scale determines the cost of the program. (In other words, the fee is determined by your income and household size.) This fee is waived if the individual applying is enrolled in Medicaid or MI Child.
