How it Works
Renting an Accessible Van
At The Creative Mobility Group, we make renting a wheelchair accessible van simple. To get started, you can request your wheelchair van rental online or call 888-998-4264 to speak with a Rental Coordinator. Once you are connected with a Rental Coordinator, we will confirm your reservation and verify that the rental van will meet your needs and expectations. If you’re not able to get to our location, your Rental Coordinator can also arrange to have your wheelchair van rental delivered to you.
Whether you choose to pick up your wheelchair van rental from one of our Michigan or Ohio locations, or have it delivered to you, we will provide you with thorough training on how to properly operate the wheelchair ramp system as well as the manual backup system in the case of an emergency. We will also provide training on how to properly secure the wheelchair and passenger in the vehicle, so you can travel with the peace of mind knowing that you and your loved ones are safe.

We offer both side-entry and rear-entry wheelchair accessible van rentals to meet a variety of mobility and travel needs. We also offer select wheelchair van rentals with adaptive driving equipment, including hand controls and a driver transfer seat base.
While a side-entry lowered-floor wheelchair van rental is our most common rental vehicle and works well in most situations, your Rental Coordinator can help you determine which wheelchair accessible rental van is the best fit for your needs.
Side-Entry Vans
A side-entry wheelchair accessible van rental features a lowered-floor conversion that provides extra interior headroom for a passenger using a wheelchair. The wheelchair ramp deploys from the passenger-side sliding door for convenient entry and exit. In addition to a wheelchair-accessible mid-row position, the front-passenger position is also wheelchair accessible. With a variety of seating configurations, a side-entry wheelchair van rental can seat up to 6 occupants.
Rear-Entry Vans
A rear-entry wheelchair accessible van rental features a fold-out ramp and a lowered center-floor area that allows wheelchair access behind the driver and front-passenger seats. The front-passenger position is not wheelchair accessible in a rear-entry van. With multiple seating layouts available, a rear-entry wheelchair van rental can accommodate up to 5 occupants.
Hand Controls
We offer side-entry wheelchair accessible rental vans equipped with adaptive driving equipment, including a 6-way transfer seat in the driver position, hand controls, and a spinner knob steering device. If you're ready to book a wheelchair accessible rental van, you can request a reservation online or call to speak with a Rental Coordinator. To help expedite the reservation process, please have the following information available:
- Current driver's license for all drivers
- Auto insurance card with agent's name and contact information
- Flight information, if applicable
- Debit or credit card to hold the reservation ($100 deposit required)
- Special requests or accommodations for a wide or tall wheelchair
After your wheelchair van rental reservation has been confirmed, your driver's license and auto insurance card can be uploaded online or emailed to rentals@creativemobilitygroup.com.
Payment & Deposit Policy
A reservation deposit of $100 is required to secure a wheelchair van rental reservation. Your reservation deposit can be paid with a credit card or debit card. Accepted credit cards include American Express, Discover, Mastercard, and Visa.
24 hours prior to the start of your reservation, we will process payment for the full amount due using the payment method provided at the time of booking.
If a debit card is used for payment, an additional $250 will be authorized and held as a security deposit during your rental.
Cancellation Policy
A full refund is provided if a reservation is canceled by 8 am the day prior to the start of the reservation. Any cancellation notice received after that time will result in a $75 cancellation fee.
Insurance Requirement
When renting a wheelchair accessible van, we require that you have a comprehensive auto insurance policy with coverage that extends to your rental vehicle.
4 Delivery and pickup service for a wheelchair accessible van rental requires advance notice of 3 business days and is subject to availability and additional charges.

Do I need to make a reservation in advance?
While an advance reservation is not required for a wheelchair van rental, it is strongly encouraged to ensure availability. We recommended that you book your reservation at least two weeks in advance. The summer months and holidays are the busiest times of the year for wheelchair accessible van rentals, so it is best to book as early as possible.
Please note, reservations with delivery & pickup service require an advance notice of 3 business days and are subject to availability and additional charges.
What is the deposit amount?
In order to secure your wheelchair van rental reservation, a $100 deposit is required.
24 hours prior to the start of your reservation, we will process a payment for your balance amount due using the payment method provided at the time of booking. If a debit card has been provided for payment, an additional $250 will be authorized and held as a security deposit.

Who is authorized to drive the vehicle?
Authorized drivers must be over the age of 23 and listed on the rental contract. We must also have valid driver’s license and proof on insurance is on file for each authorized driver.
Can I rent a van to help make a purchase decision?
Absolutely! The Weekend Special is a great way to evaluate if a wheelchair accessible van purchase is right for you or your family. In many instances, your full rental charge will then be credited towards your purchase. Ask your Rental Coordinator or speak with a Mobility Consultant for details.

We offer both side-entry and rear-entry wheelchair accessible vans for rental. We also have wheelchair rental vans that are equipped with adaptive driving equipment such as hand controls and driver transfer seat base. While a side-entry lowered-floor minivan is our most common rental vehicle and will work in most cases, your Rental Coordinator can help you deteremine what type of wheelchair van rental will best meet your needs.
SIDE-ENTRY VANS
A side-entry wheelchair accessible rental van has a lowered-floor conversion, providing more headspace to comfortably accommodate a passenger who is in a wheelchair. The wheelchair ramp deploys from the passenger-side sliding door. In addition to a wheelchair accessible mid-row, the front-passenger position is also wheelchair accessible. With a variety of seating configurations, a side-entry wheelchair van can seat up to 6 occupants.
REAR-ENTRY VANS
A rear-entry wheelchair accessible rental van features a fold-out ramp and has a lowered center-floor area for wheelchair accessibility behind the driver and front-passenger seats. The front-passenger position is not wheelchair accessible in a rear-entry van. With a variety of seating configurations, a rear-entry wheelchair van can seat up to 5 occupants.

Wheelchair Van Rental Terms
- Listed rates for wheelchair van rentals include 100 miles per day and are based on pickup and return at the same CMG location within 24 hours of the scheduled reservation time.
- The listed rate for the “Weekend Special” wheelchair van rental includes 250 total miles. Rental reservations must begin after 2 PM on Friday and end before 9 AM on Monday to qualify for the Weekend Special.
- Wheelchair van rental rates are subject to state use tax and do not include applicable airport pickup or delivery fees. Rates are based on the rental of a wheelchair accessible vehicle (Chrysler Pacifica, Dodge Grand Caravan, Toyota Sienna, Honda Odyssey, or similar). The final rate will be provided before the reservation is confirmed. Additional charges may apply for optional accessories. Vehicles must be returned with the same amount of fuel as when checked out, or a $25 refueling surcharge will apply in addition to the cost of fuel. Vans returned over the allowable mileage will be charged $0.35 per mile. Rates are subject to change without notice.
